With the cases of COVID-19 on the rise, OSTA-AECO recognizes that the government has taken the necessary actions to lower transmission rates and keep the health and safety of students a priority. While these steps are crucial, we look forward to the government considering the challenges and impacts of remote education on students.

When not in a classroom setting students may struggle with mental health, or they may have extenuating circumstances that interfere with their ability to achieve success. Additionally, the social setting in classrooms is imperative to student success, and we encourage the government to consider these factors, among others as we transition to distance learning.

We would like to thank the government for keeping students’ health and safety a priority. We encourage the government to listen to student feedback when taking proactive steps to bridge the inequities of online learning
